The colonial taverns of the 18th century are well known as gathering places where residents could do business and share the news.

As the independence movement took hold these taverns served and took hold these taverns served as incubators for the rebellion. The taverns of the Mohawk valley served all these functions and more. They became the meeting places for the Tryon County Committee of Safety and served as the early headquarters of the rebellion in the fight for American Independence.

This talk will be presented by Fort Plain Museum Chairman Norm Bollen, who is the author of George Washington and the Mohawk Frontier.
